Whether customer scripts or uploads are used to train avatar models is left to the customer agreement; the policy names improvement of model capabilities as an interest.

“In general, Synthesia is the processor of Customer Data and the controller of Other Information (which is described in the ‘Personal data that we process' section below). / To improve our Platform and underlying technologies and for our internal research, we: process the information relating to your use and interaction with the Services, and the performance and quality of the Services resulting from such use”
